Women's Events

Sounds crazy...but I have been asked to speak at women's gatherings. And I think that is great! In fact, I am also involved in coordinating events for women (see the "Pastors Wives Fellowship" in the T2i link). Gender based teaching is absolutely necessary for the church as God has made us male and female. So, opportunities to teach such things are always worthwhile.

An overview of topices covered in such womanly events:

God's design for the woman: What does it mean to be a "suitable helper"? Genesis 2:18

Biblical Principles of a Godly woman and wife

Bringing out the best in your husband

Communication Breakdowns in Marriage (with special emphasis on gender differences)

God's design for sex (with special emphasis on gender differences)

The parent-child relationship as the basis of in-law dynamics
(with a special look at the mother in law and daugther in law dynamic)

Biblical principles of parenting in general

Biblical principles of mothering

The Woman as a Mentor (Titus 2)

* like the men's events, the curriculum mostly focuses on building a godly relationship with the opposite gender.

Creating a Women's Ministry

An ongoing ministry just for women is very biblical. Even though the church may be filled with many programs, a women's only ministry can accomplish two very important goals:

1. Provide gender specific teaching: God's design for the woman
2. Provide mentoring opportunities between the older women and the younger women: Titus 2

Diagnosing the current situation at church to determine feasibility and then formulating a practical strategy is the key. Once a strategy is in place, a special event is often a good way to launch a new ministry.

Why should a man talk about women?

Some have wondered out loud why a man should speak about a woman. The assumption is that one should stick to one's own species! "What does a man know about a woman?" they say. My response to this is that it is actually proper for a man to talk about a woman. In fact, it is actually biblical for a man to knowledgeable about the woman. 1 Peter 3:7 tells the man to live with his wife with clear knowledge for who she is and her needs. The purpose of such detailed knowledge is to meet her needs.

So, men should actually take time to study God's design for the woman. This knowledge should then be passed along to other men. One way to do this is through men's events. And in special situations, the man can be invited to speak to women on what he has learned about the woman. Personally, I have benefitted from books on men written by women, and I have gained wisdom from books on women written by men. Should a man talk about God's design for a woman? Should a woman talk about God's design for a man? Absolutely!

This concept of a man acquiring knowledge about a woman is taught in a workshop on the husband as a "learner"...someone who learns about his wife. This workshop has not been recorded yet, but is part of the curriculum for the marriage workshops. To see an overview of where this concept fits, look for "The Man as Learner" in the Marriage Link.

Our church has been tremendously blessed by Pastor Tae’s teaching on biblical manhood and womanhood.  We’ve personally been blessed by the T2i events that Pastor Tae has organized.  In addition, the “Pastor’s Wives Fellowship” started by T2i has been a huge source of encouragement to pastor’s wives in the Bay Area.
